At the weekend I posted my Christmas Gift Guide for Travel Lovers 2020. I hope you found something to buy someone, add to your own Christmas list or inspire you in any way. After posting that guide and a picture of my most recent Cult Beauty order on my Instagram story, a couple of people suggested I did a gift guide for those that are into all things beauty and cosmetics.
I have been massively into makeup and beauty products for as long as I can remember. I used to be a dancer so wearing makeup and tan from a young age was something really normal to me. I would say I got into makeup properly when I was 13 and I bought my first non-drugstore makeup product – the Benefit Brow-zings shaping kit. Which, by the way, i still love 10 years on.
This year there have been some incredible products that have been released and I frankly wish I could have them all, but there are also some classics I’m still using or have only recently tried for the first time. From something new to beauty staples that I find I still turn to, I hope there’s something here for everyone.
Too Faced Primed + Poreless
For years, I have been obsessed with Laura Gellars Spackle Champagne face Primer and Benefit’s Porefessional that i refused to love anything else. Dont get me wrong, I tried others but none of them were quite right for me.
I tried Too Faced Primed + Poreless as I saw a review that it was better than Benefit Porefessional. For me, that statement is correct. Not only does my skin feel amazing but it really does give you that poreless and blurred effect. Get it from Cult Beauty for £26.
NARS Laguna Liquid Bronzer
I haven’t used a liquid bronzer in years, I last used one 4 years ago and did not have a great experience so have always been put off. This was recommended to me by my best friend and it doesn’t disappoint.
It gives such a lovely glow to my skin and is great for contouring. I also found it a great addition to darkening my foundation in the summer after having been in the sun. Get it from Cult Beauty for £28.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
This is an absolute staple in my makeup bag. I have been using it for nearly 3 years and now refuse to use anything else. I saw someone call this concealer overrated in a youtube video which i think it certainly is not. Not just a perfect base for blemishes but really nice to put underneath eyeshadow.
This product is vegan-friendly, cruely free and formulated without parabens, gluten, talc, alcohol etc. It’s also available in 35 shades and can be bought directly through Tarte for £24 for the full size, £10 for the travel-size.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
I bought this at the start of lockdown because frankly, during lockdown 1.0 I was living in my loungewear, barely brushing my hair and hardly picking up a piece of make-up. However, I started to feel a bit shit and realised I would maybe feel better if I kind of got ready for the day. I didn’t want to do a full face of make-up all the time, just enough so I don’t appear to be living like a slob on my zoom calls.
I started using flawless filter with just concealer under my eyes and this everywhere else. It made such a difference. Not only was it a light coverage, but it made my skin look so healthy and amazing. For my travel community followers – this was also perfect for Naples in 30 degree Celsius heat. It’s light on your face and perfect for that “no make up” make up look. I also wear this over my foundation, it adds another layer and makes my skin look so fresh and healthy, even with all the foundation and concealer underneath. This has become my “if I was stuck on a dessert island” product.
Due to the light coverage, if you are buying this for someone, you can’t really go far wrong. You can get this product in most places that sell Charlotte Tilbury and you can buy it here for £34 on cult beauty.
Fenty Kilawatt Highlighter in Trophy Wife
This highlighter. It isn’t my every day but it’s brilliant for that day you are feeling a bit meh or that you are getting dressed up – I think it would make the perfect gift to give on Christmas day as it’s definitely got a festive feel to it with all that glitter. You don’t need much. I have had it over 2 years and it still looks as though I have hardly used it.
They do other colours also, however, this is the only one I have used and been able to give my stamp of approval. Get it from Boots for £28.
Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette
To my fellow travellers. If you want an eyeshadow palette that you take everywhere, this is honestly it. Urban Decay created this palette a couple of years ago with the idea in mind that they wanted it to be able to cover every look, no matter what city you are in. From your daily neutrals, evening smokey eye, creating a bright eye or a metallic lid. This palette has it and the formula is insanely good.
I also think this makes it a good palette for someone perhaps not so confident with eyeshadow. The product is easy to use due to the formula being so good, plus it covers all the best colours you really need. Retailing for £43 on Cult Beauty, Debenhams, and Selfridges, but shop around, as Urban Decay counters often have offers on.
Jaclyn Hill Volume II Palette
After how much i loved Jaclyn Hills collaboration with Morphe on Volume I, when she announced this year that they had collaborated again for Volume II, I had to buy it. Due to lockdown I have admittedly not used it as much as I would have liked but there is no denying that this is one of her best palettes yet.
Get it for £39 on Cult Beauty.
Urban Decay Honey Eyeshadow Palette
Another new palette here and again this one is by Urban Decay. I collect these little palettes and this is my favourite one that they have released since ‘Heat’. The colours are stunning and again is great for anything that hasn’t used eyeshadows much before or for someone preferring more neutral/gold tones. It comes with a really decent double-ended brush so is a perfect Christmas gift in my eyes. My first Urban Decay palette was a Christmas present about 5 years ago.
Buy it on Cult Beauty for £43.
With Christmas fast approaching, I hope this little list either inspired you to add something to your Christmas list or helped you with an idea of perhaps what to buy someone else. Potentially even an early gift for yourself!
